Strawberries are loaded with health benefits. Here are a few of the top benefits you will get from adding more strawberries to your diet.
- High in Vitamin C, manganese, folate, potassium
- Loaded with antioxidants such as pelargonidin, ellagic acid, ellagitannins, and procyanidins
- High in water making them lower in carbs
- High in fiber (26% of the carb content in the strawberries is fiber)
What you need to make this strawberry smoothie bowl

- Frozen strawberries – So that you get a super thick and creamy bowl you need frozen strawberries for this recipe. But there is a trick to making this bowl go super smooth. Let your whole frozen strawberries thaw on the counter at room temperature for 15 minutes. This will still give you a sorbet-like texture but much less work for you.
- Honey– Honey or pure maple syrup can be used to sweeten this bowl. If you are using a flavored protein powder as an add-in you will only need 1 tablespoon of honey. However frozen strawberries can be quite tart, so if you are not using protein powder I recommend starting with 2 tablespoons of honey. You can always taste test and add more after blending.
- Lemon juice– Lemon juice always makes the flavors pop when you add them to fruit. Fresh is best or I would just skip it.
- Almond milk– We make our smoothies non-dairy but you can use any milk product you prefer to make this smoothie bowl recipe.
- Optional: Vanilla protein powder: Boost your bowl with protein using your favorite protein powder.
variations to boost the nutrition
- Add protein powder- Vanilla protein powder tastes amazing in this smoothie bowl.
- Add a fat source- We love using coconut oil in smoothies because it is creamy and a little tropical when you use unrefined coconut oil.
- Add collagen for a nonflavored protein boost that is great for your skin nails and hair.
How to make this strawberry smoothie bowl without banana

- Add all of your ingredients to the blender in the order listed. It is important to layer the ingredients with the heaviest being on top for optimal blending. Start your blender on low and ramp up to high.

2. Use the tamper to push the ingredients toward the blades. Scrape down the sides of the blender if needed. If you don’t have a tamper, just stop the blender and use a rubber spatula to push the ingredients down.

3. Blend until smooth and creamy. Serve with your favorite toppings.

This particular smoothie bowl can be very low in sugar if you use minimal added sweetener if you need to watch your carbohydrate intake. Smoothie bowls are also perfect for picky eaters who don’t like eating whole fruit.
This dairy-free smoothie bowl fits into a lot of dietary specifications including paleo, vegan with the right substitutions and could be Whole30 if you left out the sweetener.
