Frequency of your emotions chart

If you want to know what your vibration is right now here is the test.

Pause for just a moment, close your eyes, and take a cleansing breath big, deep and let it all go.

Now ask yourself three questions:

  1. How am I feeling right now?
  2. What has been my dominant emotional state this past week?
  3. What has been my dominant emotional state this past month/6 months/year?

Now you might be asking why you are doing this. And of course, I am about to tell you. Your vibration aka your frequency as a human is based on your emotional state.

The highest frequency is peace and goes all the way down to fear as the lowest frequency of emotions. To note, I have also seen frequency charts that include shame, guilt, and apathy as the lowest frequencies. Either way, the image below gives you a quick snap shot at where you might be hanging out for your vibrational frequency.

Here’s a study about Measuring the frequency of emotions if you are interested in reading more about studies conducted on some of the tips below like gratitude and doing one good deed a day.

It’s not just about positive vibes only

It is important to keep in mind that your goal with raising your vibration or frequency isn’t to only be high vibes, or positive vibes only.

It is about creating the ability to feel all emotions and have the capacity and resilience to move back to the higher emotional vibrational states at some point. We need to feel all things, and having fear, guilt or shame every once in a while isn’t going to ruin your vibration.

It’s when you get stuck in these states and unable to move past them in your life that you would see an impact on your dominant state of emotions.

21 Easy Ways to Create Positive (Higher) Vibrations

1. Ask how you can serve

One of the best “high vibe” practices to begin is waking up every morning and saying two things. First, thank God (or the Universe, Mother Earth, or whatever resonates with you the most) for being alive today. Your breath (which is life) is a precious gift. And if you woke up today, it means you are here to serve a purpose.

Begin each day by asking how you can serve. Just close your eyes, take a nice deep breath in and a long exhale out and in your head say “Show me how I can serve today”. Know that you may not get your answer right away. But you have now planted the seed of service in your subconscious, and you will now be in tune with how you can serve.

Even if you don’t receive an answer you have essentially created a seed of opportunity for the subconscious mind. This seed will become a filter for how you view the world, allowing you to see more opportunities for serving.

2. Give, give, and give some more (even acts of kindness)

If you are looking to raise your vibration, I believe it is safe to say you are aware of the Law of Attraction. But there are more laws than just the Law of Attraction.

Two of them have to do with “giving”. One is monetary and that is based on the Law of Compensation, the other is very similar to karma. What you give, will come back to you.

The Law of Giving states that the more you give without expecting a return, the more it will come back to you. Do it because it feels good, do it because you know it will always come back to you tenfold. You may not know when, where, or how but trust that when you give, life always gives back.

3. Find the next emotion up (aka the next vibration up)

This is one of my favorite things to do when I am in a super low vibrational funk that I cannot get out of. This is an exercise suggested in Ask and It is Given by Abraham Hicks.

There are days when you know that the emotion of joy just isn’t going to be found. And that is ok because you are human. The important thing to remember is that all emotions have a vibrational energy level and you can always find the next emotion up that you feel like you can step into or embody.

Here is an example- say you battle depression. Today is a day your depression is so bad that you can’t get out of bed or think a single positive thought. Depression on a vibrational frequency is as low as fear, grief, and despair.

But according to Abraham Hicks in “Ask and it is Given”, emotions that are above depression on an energetic frequency include jealousy, hatred, rage, and anger. Jealousy, hatred, and rage are not high energy, but they are higher than depression so if you can access the feelings of even hatred, you have moved up in frequency.

This might be an extreme example but search for an emotion that moves you closer to joy, even if it isn’t joy. Maybe today all you can get to is “contentment”, let that be ok, and keep working to find the next emotion up to raise your vibration one step at a time.

4. Find ways to be grateful

If you could only do one thing to raise your vibration, to practice gratitude should be it. Without learning to be grateful for what we have, or where we are at, we keep ourselves in a mindset of lack versus a mindset of abundance.

Find ways to be grateful for absolutely anything that you can. You also can be grateful for the things that are yet to come. This is a manifestation practice that helps you be grateful for something you don’t have (yet) but you still state it in the present tense as if it has already happened.

It works similarly to the power of visualization and the effect it has on your subconscious mind.

Here is how this might sound on a day that is really crappy but I am trying to find joy or raise my vibration. Let’s say I don’t really like my house and wish it was bigger, and today the basement flooded. It would be really easy to become consumed with what is going wrong, but instead to raise your emotions, hence your vibration, you must be grateful for what you have.

Here is what the convo sounds like in my head (this is called a gratitude dump) “Thank you for this day, thank you for the sun, thank you for my health, thank you for my kid’s health, thank you for the roof over my head, thank you for heat on this cold day, thank you for a place that is my own, thank you for people that fix flooded basement, thank you for the money to fix the basement, thank you for my lunch”…

This gratefulness dump goes on until you feel better.

5. Be present

When we are “low vibe” it is usually out of the habit of living outside of the present moment. Make it a part of your daily routine to check in with your present moment.

  1. Enhanced Awareness: Being present involves being fully aware of the present moment without judgment. This heightened awareness allows you to observe your thoughts, emotions, and surroundings more objectively, reducing the influence of negative or draining thoughts and feelings.
  2. Release of Negative Energy: When you are present, you are less likely to dwell on past regrets or worry about the future, which can generate negative energy. By releasing this mental and emotional baggage, you free up space for positive energy to flow through you.
  3. Increased Gratitude: Being present encourages gratitude for the simple pleasures in life. Focusing on the present moment helps you appreciate what you have, which brings positive emotions and raises your overall vibration.
  4. Alignment with the Higher Self: Some belief systems propose the existence of a higher self or spiritual essence within each individual. Being present allows you to connect with this higher self, which is said to resonate at a higher frequency.
  5. Emotional Resilience: Mindfulness practices can help build emotional resilience, making it easier to navigate challenging situations with a positive mindset. This resilience helps to maintain a higher vibration even during difficult times.
  6. Attraction of Positive Experiences: The law of attraction, another popular concept in certain spiritual circles, suggests that positive energy attracts positive experiences. Being present and maintaining a higher vibration is believed to draw positive opportunities and experiences into your life.

6. Trust you are on the right path

Trusting in the universe, oneself and the inherent interconnectedness of all things fosters a sense of peace, acceptance, and surrender to the flow of life.

By releasing the grip of fear, doubt, and control, individuals open themselves to a higher frequency of positive energy. Trusting in the unfolding of events and believing that everything happens for a reason allows one to let go of resistance and find harmony within the present moment.

This newfound trust in the universe’s benevolence attracts more abundance, synchronicities, and aligned experiences, ultimately raising one’s vibration and contributing to a more joyful and fulfilling existence.

These all encompass several Universal Laws such as The Law of Resistance,

7. Affirmations

Affirmations are positive statements that you repeat to yourself in order to shift your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions toward a more positive and empowering mindset. The concept behind using affirmations to raise your vibration is rooted in the idea that your thoughts and emotions have a vibrational frequency, and by aligning them with positivity, you can attract higher vibrational experiences into your life. Here’s how affirmations can help you raise your vibration:

  1. Shift Negative Thought Patterns: Affirmations help counteract negative self-talk and beliefs that lower your vibration. By consistently repeating positive statements, you can rewire your subconscious mind to focus on uplifting thoughts, thereby raising your overall energetic frequency.
  2. Manifestation: When you affirm positive outcomes, you send a clear message to the universe about your intentions. This can help attract situations and experiences that resonate with your desired vibration, promoting a sense of alignment and positivity.
  3. Mindset and Attitude: Affirmations encourage a more optimistic and proactive mindset. As your thoughts become more positive, you’ll naturally cultivate a more positive attitude, leading to a higher vibrational state.
  4. Emotional Resonance: Repeating affirmations can evoke positive emotions such as joy, gratitude, and self-love. These emotions have higher vibrational frequencies, which can influence your overall energetic state.
  5. Self-Empowerment: Affirmations can boost your self-confidence and self-esteem. When you believe in your abilities and worth, you naturally radiate a higher vibration.
  6. Conscious Focus: Affirmations require conscious attention and repetition. Engaging in this practice helps you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings, allowing you to make intentional choices that align with a higher vibration.
  7. Stress Reduction: Positive affirmations can help reduce stress and anxiety by redirecting your focus away from negative thoughts. Lowering stress levels contributes to an elevated vibrational state.
  8. Enhanced Perception: Affirmations can help you perceive challenges and setbacks as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. This shift in perception contributes to a more positive vibrational frequency.

To effectively use affirmations to raise your vibration:

  • Choose affirmations that resonate with you and reflect your desired positive beliefs or outcomes.
  • Repeat affirmations consistently, ideally daily, with genuine conviction and emotion.
  • Use present tense and positive language in your affirmations.
  • Combine affirmations with visualization to enhance their impact.
  • Incorporate mindfulness or meditation practices to reinforce the positive shifts in your mindset.

Looking for the best time to repeat your affirmations? I love to make sure I repeat “I am” affirmations before bed. The state you find yourself in between awake and sleep is called the hypnogogic state. This is when the subconscious mind is most suggestible making it the perfect time to repeat affirmations.

Wayne Dyer has a method that you do 5 minutes before falling asleep. Check out his YouTube video on the 5 Minutes Before You Fall Asleep Method.

8. Meditation

Meditation is a powerful practice that can help you raise your vibration by promoting a sense of calm, mindfulness, and inner harmony. It has the potential to shift your state of consciousness and bring you into alignment with higher vibrational frequencies. Here’s how meditation can contribute to raising your vibration:

  1. Stress Reduction: Meditation helps activate the relaxation response in your body, reducing the production of stress hormones like cortisol. As stress levels decrease, your overall vibrational frequency tends to rise.
  2. Mindfulness and Presence: Meditation cultivates mindfulness, which involves being fully present in the moment without judgment. This heightened awareness helps you detach from negative thought patterns and emotions that lower your vibration.
  3. Emotional Regulation: Through meditation, you can develop greater emotional intelligence and the ability to observe your emotions without becoming overly attached to them. This detachment from negative emotions can lead to a higher vibrational state.
  4. Positive Neuroplasticity: Regular meditation can lead to positive changes in brain structure and function. It can strengthen neural pathways associated with positive emotions, empathy, and gratitude, enhancing your overall energetic state.
  5. Elevated Consciousness: Meditation can induce altered states of consciousness, leading to experiences of expanded awareness, connection, and insights. These experiences can contribute to a heightened vibrational frequency.
  6. Enhanced Self-Awareness: By quieting the mind and turning inward, meditation allows you to explore your inner landscape. This self-reflection can lead to greater self-awareness and personal growth, which in turn raises your vibration.
  7. Cultivation of Positive Qualities: Many meditation practices focus on cultivating qualities such as love, compassion, gratitude, and forgiveness. These qualities resonate with higher vibrational frequencies and can positively influence your energetic state.
  8. Alignment with Universal Energy: Some meditation traditions emphasize connecting with universal or cosmic energies. This connection can help you attune to higher vibrational frequencies that exist beyond your individual self.
  9. Slows your Brain Waves: Change in your deep-rooted thoughts and beliefs can only occur in a state when the brain waves are out of beta and into alpha or theta. Meditation helps you slow down your brain waves to make lasting changes.

9. Breathwork

Breathwork helps you release emotions such as anxiety, worry, and stress. It also encourages you to come back into the present moment.

Breathwork, when done right, moves old stagnant energy out of the body and replaces it with new “prana”. Prana is the Sanskrit word for breath which means “life force”. Breathwork and pranayama exercises can help remove negative emotions and prepare for meditation.

Breathwork is very easy to implement and doesn’t require a lot of time.

Studies show that just 5 minutes of breathwork a day has a significant impact on improving your heart rate variability.

So the next time you are looking to drop the anxiety and become a little more comfortable in the moment try these exercises.

In my experience as a yoga teacher, it is easier to teach proper breathing when you are lying down. So find a comfortable place to lay down and place one hand on the belly and one hand on the heart center.

Begin to inhale feeling the belly rise first, then the chest then all the way to the collarbone. Then slowly exhale- collarbone first, chest next, belly last. Count to 4 seconds with each inhale and then try and make the exhale for 8 seconds. Continue for as long as it feels good to you.

Pranayama activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the part of the nervous system that calms you down taking you out of that “fight or flight” mode.

9. Tapping

Tapping or EFT is an Emotional Freedom Technique that uses points of the body that you tap on, stimulating their trapped energy to release and move.

Tapping focuses on the same energy points that acupuncture does. It helps stimulate the mind body brain connection and restore energy imbalances along with emotional symptoms of those imbalances such as anxiety.

Healthline has a really great article explaining how to implement an EFT practice.

10. Essential Oils

Infusing essential oils can also help your mood by calming or uplifting depending on the chemical profile of the oil you are infusing.

  • Essential oils such as lavender, frankincense, and clary sage can help calm and decrease anxiety.
  • Brighter oils such as orange, pepper, or bergamot can calm while uplifting.

Essential oils work by stimulating the brain thru the nerves in the olfactory nervous system. The olfactory system sends signals to the brain that then stimulate the release of dopamine and serotonin to have an effect on stress and anxiety levels. A study on Aromatherapy and the central nerve system (CNS): therapeutic mechanism and its associated genes can be found on Pubmed.

11. Movement

Stress and trauma are stored in the body. Get your body moving in literally any way that is calling you to help release those trapped emotions. Movement, particularly in the context of physical exercise and activities that engage your body, can play a significant role in raising your vibration and enhancing your overall well-being. Here’s how movement can contribute to a higher vibrational state:

  1. Release of Endorphins: Physical activity triggers the release of endorphins, which are neurotransmitters that promote feelings of happiness and reduce stress. These “feel-good” chemicals can elevate your mood and contribute to a more positive vibrational frequency.
  2. Increased Energy Flow: Movement, especially dynamic forms like dancing, yoga, or martial arts, can help stimulate the flow of energy within your body. This increased energy circulation can lead to a heightened sense of vitality and well-being.
  3. Stress Reduction: Engaging in physical movement can help alleviate stress and tension. As stress levels decrease, your overall energetic state tends to rise, leading to a higher vibrational frequency.
  4. Mind-Body Connection: Movement practices often encourage a deeper connection between your mind and body. This heightened awareness can lead to a more harmonious and aligned vibrational state.
  5. Enhanced Breathing: Many movement practices involve conscious breathing, which can activate the parasympathetic nervous system and promote relaxation. Deep, intentional breathing supports a higher vibrational frequency.
  6. Release of Blocked Energy: Physical movement can help release stagnant or blocked energy within your body. This can lead to a sense of emotional and energetic liberation, promoting a more positive vibrational state.
  7. Cultivation of Mindfulness: Engaging in mindful movements, such as yoga or tai chi, encourages present-moment awareness and focused attention. This mindfulness can elevate your vibrational frequency by helping you detach from negative thoughts and emotions.
  8. Increased Confidence: Regular physical activity can improve your physical fitness and body image, leading to increased self-confidence and a more positive self-perception. This boost in self-esteem can contribute to a higher vibrational state.
  9. Connection to Joy: Engaging in movement that you enjoy, whether it’s dancing, playing sports, or hiking, can evoke feelings of joy and pleasure. These positive emotions resonate with higher vibrational frequencies.
  10. Alignment with Nature: Movement in natural settings, such as walking in a park or practicing outdoor yoga, can help you connect with the natural world. This connection can lead to a greater sense of harmony and a higher vibrational state.

To effectively use movement to raise your vibration:

  • Choose Activities You Enjoy: Engage in physical activities that you find enjoyable and fulfilling. The more you enjoy the movement, the more your vibrational frequency is likely to increase. Movement can be yoga, walking, jumping, dancing, or skipping! It doesn’t have to be “exercise” you just need to move.
  • Mindful Movement: Practice activities that emphasize mindfulness and body awareness, such as yoga, tai chi, or qigong.
  • Regular Practice: Consistency is key. Aim for regular movement sessions to maintain a positive and elevated vibrational state.
  • Variety: Incorporate a variety of movement practices to keep things interesting and to engage different muscle groups and energy centers in your body.

12. Listen to that “gut feeling”

Try and listen to your “gut feeling” because science shows that emotion and intuition have a strong presence in your gut. Your gut is referred to as the second brain and there is a huge connection between how you feel and what is going on in the gut.

In addition to listening to that gut feeling, paying attention to eating habits that are not healthy for your gut can have an impact on your health and mood. Your gut produces 95% of the body’s serotonin so it may be worth your time to increase high vibe foods and decrease low vibe ones such as processed food.

Listening to your gut feeling, often referred to as your intuition or inner guidance, can contribute to raising your vibration by helping you make aligned and positive choices. Your gut feeling is a subtle form of inner wisdom that arises from a deeper level of awareness.

When you tune into your intuition and follow its guidance, you can experience increased clarity, alignment, and a sense of well-being.

13. Stop resisting and feel the emotions

World-renowned psychiatrist Carl Jung taught us that what you resist will persist. So instead of trying to cover up your sadness or frustration and stuffing it down like it isn’t happening, try and tune in to those feelings.

Sit with the emotion you are having and really feel it. Cry, scream journal. Do what you need to do to honor the feelings you are having at the moment.

Once you stop resisting the feelings, you may find they no longer exist.

14. Energetic cord cutting

If you find you just can’t shake a feeling of stress or anxiety or maybe you can’t even pinpoint where it’s coming from, doing a cord-cutting ceremony may help you release energy and emotions that have energetically attached to you.

This can be done with relationships, after high-stress meetings or anytime you feel you may benefit from releasing energy you are storing that no longer has a purpose.

If you haven’t tried this exercise before, I must tell you it is one of my favorite ways to improve my vibration. I use it after a fight with my husband, a particularly draining day, or a day spent on social media where I have absorbed toxic feelings.

I have used a variety of cord-cutting meditations and they all are very different some very detailed with mantras and others are very simple. Here is a quick one you can do when you don’t have a lot of time and need to cut the energetic fields fast.

  1. Close your eyes and center yourself by slowing the breath down and taking long deep inhales and exhales through the nose.
  2. Begin to focus your mind on the feeling, person, or situation you feel may be attached to your energy field.
  3. Imagine a thick black cord that goes from your heart to their heart. It is thick and made of thousands of cord strings. Then imagine the cord being cut with a giant pair of scissors. As the cord is cut you feel lighter.
  4. Imagine pulling the end of the cord that is attached to you out leaving no thread left. And then throw the cord onto the ground as it bursts into thousands of white light beams that float back into the universe. Then repeat the same removal of the cord to the other person.
  5. Then think of a color. Any color that comes to you. Surround yourself and the person or situation in this glowing color. Imagine the light and color feel warm and secure and grounding. And then say to yourself, I have released the energetic cords that bind us. So it is.
  6. When you feel ready open your eyes and take notice of how you might feel differently. This can be repeated as many times as needed for each person or situation you feel is draining you.

15. Listen to Solfeggio frequency music

Solfeggio frequencies are part of a tone scale that is used to heal the body by activating different parts of the brain. According to Sonya Joseph,  “Sound healing is effective in healing physical, generational, and emotional trauma in our DNA using vibrations and frequencies”.

There are six main frequencies that have different effects on the body. Find more on the frequencies here.

All you have to do is find your favorite sounds on Spotify, iTunes, or even YouTube and let it play in the background. I have noticed it has a profound effect on keeping me calm and grounded when I am participating in something stressful.

Here is a yoga nidra for sleeping with soft Solfgeggio Sounds to help you drift off into a healing sleep:

16. Fresh air

According to Richard Ryan, getting outside for just 20 minutes a day can boost your vitality levels.

Keep in mind, to gain the benefits of raising your vibration with fresh air, it doesn’t even have to be for 20 minutes. Stepping outside for a few deep breaths will boost your oxygen levels, and increased oxygen helps your heart work less hard, increases energy and focus, and can also help with digestion, linking back to that gut-brain health connection.

17. Turn off social media

Turning off social media can contribute to raising your vibration by helping you create a healthier and more balanced relationship with technology and the online world.

While social media has its benefits, it can also be a source of stress, comparison, and negative energy.

Disconnecting from social media periodically or reducing its impact on your life can lead to several positive effects on your overall well-being and vibrational frequency

18. Grounding

Grounding is the act of connecting your feet with the earth. No shoes, no socks just your bare feet feeling and rooting into the ground. You can create this practice on grass, dirt, rocks, or water to connect to the energy of the earth.

The earth is electromagnetic. Electromagnetic fields = energy. Everything is energy and you can transfer the pure energy of the earth into your body by placing the entire sole of your foot on the ground.

Grounding can help reduce cortisol levels, improve mood, and reduce inflammation. All things that raise your vibrational frequency. So kick off those shoes and dig your toes in and absorb pure beautiful energy.

Better yet, lay down on the earth and practice this yoga nidra:

19. Drink water

Flush out toxins that could be lingering around making you feel blah.

Mild dehydration can in fact affect your mood according to the University of Connecticut. So don’t forget this easy step if you can’t shake your funk.

Mild dehydration, even when not immediately obvious, can have several effects on your mood and cognitive function. Here are three ways mild dehydration can impact your mood:

  1. Irritability and Mood Swings: Dehydration can lead to irritability, mood swings, and a generally negative emotional state. Research suggests that even minor changes in hydration status can affect mood and increase feelings of tension and anxiety. When your body is not properly hydrated, it can disrupt the balance of neurotransmitters and hormones that regulate mood, potentially leading to heightened emotional sensitivity and irritability.
  2. Cognitive Impairment: Mild dehydration can impair cognitive function, including attention, memory, and decision-making. When your brain doesn’t have enough water, it can struggle to function optimally, leading to difficulties in processing information and maintaining mental clarity. This cognitive fog can contribute to feelings of frustration, stress, and a lowered overall mood.
  3. Fatigue and Low Energy: Dehydration can lead to feelings of fatigue and low energy levels. Even mild dehydration can cause a drop in blood volume and blood pressure, which can result in reduced oxygen delivery to your brain and muscles. This can lead to a sense of lethargy and reduced motivation, affecting your overall mood and outlook.

20. Forgive

Forgiveness can have a profound impact on improving your mental outlook by promoting emotional healing, reducing stress, and fostering a positive mindset. When you choose to forgive, you release negative emotions and thoughts associated with past hurts, allowing you to create space for more positive and empowering emotions. Here’s how forgiveness can contribute to a healthier mental outlook:

  1. Emotional Healing: Forgiveness is a powerful tool for healing emotional wounds. When you forgive, you let go of anger, resentment, and bitterness that can weigh you down mentally. This release frees you from the emotional burden of holding onto grudges, leading to a sense of emotional lightness and relief.
  2. Reduced Stress: Holding onto feelings of anger and resentment can contribute to chronic stress. Forgiving others, as well as yourself can reduce the stress response and lower cortisol levels, promoting a calmer and more peaceful mental state.
  3. Improved Relationships: Forgiveness can repair and strengthen relationships. By letting go of past grievances, you create an opportunity for healthier communication and connection with others. This improved social support can positively influence your mental well-being.
  4. Enhanced Self-Esteem: Forgiveness can contribute to higher self-esteem and self-worth. When you forgive yourself for past mistakes or shortcomings, you cultivate self-compassion and a more positive self-image, leading to a brighter mental outlook.
  5. Positive Mindset: Choosing forgiveness shifts your focus away from negative experiences and allows you to concentrate on positive aspects of your life. This shift in perspective can lead to a more optimistic and hopeful mental outlook.
  6. Release of Resentment: Letting go of resentment and grudges allows you to reclaim emotional energy and mental space. This newfound freedom from negative emotions can lead to increased mental clarity and a more positive mental state.
  7. Increased Empathy and Compassion: Forgiving others can help you cultivate empathy and compassion. Understanding the human imperfections that lead to mistakes and hurtful actions can soften your heart and promote a more compassionate worldview.
  8. Stress Reduction and Mental Health: Chronic anger and resentment have been linked to a range of mental health issues, including anxiety and depression. Forgiveness can help reduce these negative emotional states and contribute to better overall mental health.

To incorporate forgiveness into your life and improve your mental outlook:

  • Reflect on past hurts and identify areas where forgiveness is needed, both for others and for yourself.
  • Practice self-compassion by forgiving yourself for past mistakes or shortcomings.
  • Engage in forgiveness practices, such as journaling, meditation, or seeking therapy, to work through unresolved emotions.
  • Cultivate empathy by putting yourself in the shoes of the person you are forgiving and understanding their perspective.
  • Set clear boundaries and communicate assertively to prevent future conflicts and resentment.
  • Practice gratitude to shift your focus towards positive aspects of your life.

21. Take the smallest step possible towards your dreams

Boost your energy and self worth by taking one small step toward a goal you have.

To raise your vibration, you have to take action. Learning how to build your capacity to reach your goals in small increments will help you get there faster than waiting to feel like you are ready.
