What is a Ninja Creami

In a world where culinary innovation is constantly pushing boundaries, a delightful and innovative creation has emerged to captivate the taste buds of dessert enthusiasts everywhere. The Ninja Creami machine, is a revolutionary kitchen appliance that has taken the art of frozen desserts to new heights.

At its core, the Ninja Creami is a versatile kitchen appliance that offers an exceptional twist on traditional frozen treats. Imagine a magical machine that allows you to craft your very own ice creams, sorbets, and frozen yogurts right in the comfort of your home. Gone are the days of store-bought options with limited flavor choices – the Ninja Creami empowers you to let your imagination run wild and create customized frozen masterpieces.

Not only can you let your imagination run wild, but you can do it with super clean and healthy ingredients. Which is exactly why I bought my Creami Breeze. I wanted to be able to make macro-friendly high-protein ice cream that didn’t contain gross chemicals or ingredients.

I have to say, I am super thrilled with the purchase and almost every recipe I have made has turned out beyond my expectations.

How It Works: The Ninja Creami boasts cutting-edge technology that combines freezing and blending functionalities, resulting in velvety smooth, and perfectly textured desserts. It features a user-friendly interface that lets you experiment with various ingredients, from fresh fruits and nuts to chocolates and extracts. The process is simple: pour your desired mixture into the Creami, freeze, select your desired consistency, and watch as the machine works its magic.

Ingredients you will need for this high-protein ice cream

This recipe contains super simple ingredients. With just a little mixing and a touch of a button you will have homemade ice cream the whole family can enjoy, guilt-free.

Here’s what you are gonna need:

  • Pre-made 11-ounce chocolate protein drink: Now listen…this recipe is only going to be as good as the protein drink you use. If you use a gross protein drink, your ice cream will be gross. Use a pre-made chocolate protein drink you like and you will in turn love this recipe. I love OWYN vegan protein drink. The reason this recipe works is that most of these pre-made protein drinks contain gums like guar gum. These gums will give your homemade protein ice cream a super creamy texture. So on that note be sure to grab a protein drink with the ingredients you stand for.
  • Unflavored Collagen Protein Powder– This is used for an added protein boost without flavor. If you don’t have collagen you could leave it out or you could sub in your favorite protein powder. This will change the flavor, so keep that in mind. I prefer Vital Proteins unflavored collagen *. It mixes well and actually works as far as keeping joint pain away and healthy skin and hair.
  • Peppermint Extract- A little goes a long way here. I wouldn’t add more than the recipe calls for.

Mix-In Ideas

Here are just a few ideas for mix-ins for your Mint Chocolate Protein ice cream.

  • 1-2 Sandwich cookies like Gluten free chocolate cookies or Simple Mills
  • Mini Chocolate chips
  • Melted chocolate
  • Literally, anything you love in ice cream

How to make healthy Mint Chocolate Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream

  1. Mix your ice cream ingredients. To make this easy I like to use the blender. The collagen can be hard to mix into the protein so using a blender or coffee frother will work best. Pour the blended ingredients into your Ninja Creami pint container.

2. Freeze your ice cream on a level surface for 24 hours. When you take it out it will be a frozen pint of something that does not resemble ice cream. Keep going.

3. Put the blade on your Ninja Creami, follow the instructions for your Ninja Creami Machine as they are all different as far as how the pint is inserted. Some models have an outer bowl. Mine doesn’t. Run your ice cream through the “Light Ice Cream” cycle. When it is finished with this you will have a powdery ice cream. This is normal, don’t freak out. Add 2 tablespoons of your milk of choice and now run it through the “Remix” cycle.

4. Now that you have perfectly blended ice cream that you just ran through the “remix” add your Mix ins. Do this by making a well in the center if there isn’t one already and then replace the blade. Hit the “Mix-In” Button and run it through.

5. This is your finished ice cream after three cycles! The Light ice cream, the Remix and the Mix in. See how much it crumbles up a cookie in the mix in? This is why I like to save half my mix in for topping the ice cream.

6. Enjoy! I love to save macros so I can eat the whole pint. But if you decide to only eat half you can save the remaining ice cream in the pint. You might have to re run it through the light ice cream cycle and a remix cycle depending on when you go to eat the remaining ice cream.

Top Tips for using your Ninja Creami

  • Mix ins: One time I saw a well-known person on social media wondering how to add the mix to the frozen solid ice cream BEFORE running it through the Ninja Creami. Top tip: Add the mix-ins when it’s not frozen solid.
  • Always Remix: You will almost always need to use the re-mix function. I have yet to make an ice cream (healthy or indulgent) that didn’t need to be re-mixed after the initial cycle, and before the mix in cycle. It is totally normal to have powdery ice cream after your first cycle no matter what you are making, from smoothie bowls to indulgent ice cream to sorbet.
  • Leftovers: If you decide to only eat half, you can save the remaining ice cream in the pint. You might have to re run it through the light ice cream cycle and a remix cycle depending on when you go to eat the remaining ice cream. If it is frozen solid, do a cycle on Light ice cream, check the consistency, if needed add 1-2 tablespoons of milk of choice and then a Remix cycle.

Equipment

  • Ninja Creami (this recipe was tested with the Ninja Creami Breeze)

Ingredients

Chocolate Strawberry Healthy Ninja Creami Base Recipe

  • 1 Pre Made Chocolate Protein Drink (11 ounces) see notes
  • 4 tablespoons Unflavored Collagen (20 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk of choice, (I use almond milk)

Instructions

  • Add: Add your ingredients into your Ninja Creami pint in the order listed. Stir, whisk or use a frother to combine the ingredients. If your collagen mixes really easily then stirring with a spoon will be all you need to do. I just use a blender so I don't have chunks of collagen. Pour the blended ingredients into your Ninja Creami pint container if you used a blender.
  • Freeze: Place the lid on the Creami Pint, place in your freezer on a flat surface. Freeze for 24 hours.
  • Make: Remove the lid, place the Ninja Creami blade lid on your pint. Or follow the instructions for your model. Choose "Light Ice Cream" mode. Once it cycles thru one time remove the lid. This ice cream will be powdery. Add 2 tablespoons of your milk of choice ( I use almond milk) or water. Replace the blade and now choose the "Remix" mode.
  • Mix ins: After your "remix" cycle, make a well in the center of your ice cream. This recipe typically naturally leaves a whole in the middle. Replace the blade and run your ice cream through a mix in cycle. Then enjoy! I find that the Ninja Creami really grinds up mix ins. I like to split my mix in and do half as a mix in and half as a topping. Especially cookies, cause…yum.

Notes

  • Listen…this recipe is only going to be as good as the protein drink you use. If you use a gross protein drink, your ice cream will be gross. Use a pre-made chocolate protein drink you like and you will in turn love this recipe
