Tony Robbins says “The quality of your life is a direct reflection of the quality of the questions you are asking yourself”. Brene Brown says “Talk to yourself like someone you love”. But the real question is how do you know what to say or ask to get to a great quality life and place of self-love?
If you are used to talking down to yourself and are ready to flip the switch to something more positive, today I will be showing you how. It starts with journaling. Read on to find 100 self-love journal prompts that will lead to new mindset shifts.
What is self-love and is it important?
Here are a few definitions of self-love from Merriam-Webster:
- an appreciation of one’s own worth or virtue
- proper regard for and attention to one’s own happiness or well-being
Based on these definitions how do you think are doing in the self-love department? As a Life and Success coach to many women, I can confidently speak from experience when I say, self-love and self-worth come up often with clients I work with.
When you don’t appreciate your own worth, it makes it difficult to step outside of your comfort zone. It makes it feel like torture to make changes or show up in the way you want because there is a lack of regard for your own happiness, virtue, and sometimes your worth.
Lacking self-love can leave you lacking the confidence to live a bold life and show up as you want to in this world because fear takes over and keeps you in the passenger seat of your own life.
Having a positive relationship with yourself is essential for creating a life of happiness.
Self-healing is a lifelong process. But it starts with loving yourself enough to make it happen.

Self-love Journaling Tips
As a former, would rather poke my eyes out with a pencil than journal kind of person, I would like to share some of my favorite tips for journaling.
- Find a pen and notebook you love. It doesn’t have to be expensive but make sure you enjoy both. I actually prefer cheap spiral notebooks over fancy journals. But pick what is right for you.
- If you hate journaling, only do it when you find yourself spiraling. There is no pressure to journal every day unless you love it. Use it as a tool when you need it.
- Use journaling as a way to look back and celebrate the progress you have made toward self-healing. Sometimes we are so close to what is happening we can’t see the leaps and bounds of the progress we have made over time.
- Be your own coach, but do it objectively. There is a lot of power in getting the words you have swirling in your head, out of your body. You can also begin to see things objectively as you move them from thoughts to words on paper.
